DSV works towards a common mission of unlocking conservation-based entrepreneurship in the region. Lack of access to sustainable finance and inadequate capacity are among the key binding constraints for the unlocking of entrepreneurship potential. The Impact Investment Fund works on addressing these constraints, among others, and aim to mobilize finance that not just looks at financial returns but rather at producing multi-dimensional returns to the larger society: optimizing returns through the lens of environmental and social ramifications of investment decisions. The Foundation works to secure the broader goals of sustainable economic development and basin area conservation by funding initiatives that support livelihood, healthcare, access to quality education, and ecological tourism.

Key Objectives of DSV

Generate employment

We aim to reduce the labor outflow, often as migrant workers to India or several countries in the Middle East, and help design and drive a community-centric approach to conservation focused entrepreneurship. Through a community-centric approach, we will build a degree of sustainability into all of the selected ventures.

Provide access to sustainable finance

We aim to secure broader goals of sustainable economic development and basin area conservation by funding initiatives that support conservation related activities, livelihood, healthcare, access to quality education, and ecological tourism.

Sustainable development

We aim to address one of the key binding constraints for entrepreneurship development in the Karnali basin-context: lack of access to finance. We aim not just to generate financial returns for investors through mobilizing finance, but to produce multi-dimensional returns to the larger society.

Enhance entrepreneurship eco-system

We aim to unlock the entrepreneurship potential in the region through various tailored training and capacity-building activities for entrepreneurs and employees of micro, small, medium enterprises (MSMEs).
